"Quinn & the Quips" TV Show and Game Raises Over $50K on Kickstarter

The new series encourages young girls to pursue careers in technology and science (June 06, 2017)

CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 6, 2017 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- With five days to go in its Kickstarter campaign, a new girl-driven, kids virtual reality TV series and game, Quinn & the Quips, reached its funding goal of $50,000.  Blue Socks Media, the brand management company responsible for Quinn, will use the funds to begin production on a pilot episode and accompanying game.

"I'm so excited that our concept seems to be resonating with people online," said Alex Anderson, creator of Quinn and the Quips. "The story has evolved with the virtual reality aspect, but our core purpose is the same: to inspire young girls to get involved in technology, and to promote positive social behaviors online and 'IRL'."

The series follows 11-year-old Quinn and her friends as they compete in a virtual reality game created by their eccentric computer programming teacher, Bebe, where they must utilize code to win and to survive. The game is complicated by arsenals of mischievous, shape-shifting "quips", characters in the game who follow the orders of their respective team captain.

Toni Steedman, President of Blue Socks Media, and Anderson are in discussion with production companies about the series pilot. Jeremy Fox, an LA-based game designer and consultant, is working on the initial game plan. Warner McGee, an illustrator known for his work on major children's TV series and toys, created the first pass illustrations of the characters on which the animation will be based.
